Shoe Trends That Dominate

by admin on September 11, 2011

The latest fashion trends show designers taking a playful approach to womens shoes, as well as drawing inspiration from some unlikely sources.

Lace ups and metallics are incredibly hot right now. And pointed-toe heels are back, and can be seen taking the runway in a variety of textures from patent leather to faux reptile. These show stoppers can be paired with flirty dresses, power suits and even skinny jeans, so they’ve turned out to be far more versatile than originally anticipated. And if played right they can offer up a nice retro feel that looks great on and off the runway.

High-heel ankle boots appear to still be growing strong as well, particularly with over-the-top embellishments like oversized bows and buckles. Mid high boots also appear to be universally loved, and extensive front lace ups are the key star power element to those. As for flats they’re still being seen, yet the chunky heels are beginning to dominate.

With all styles, the trends are showing an extensive amount of play with textures, from various faux reptile skins to suede, satin and even lace. For better or worse, socks are still showing up with heels as well.

Another interesting pattern is the appearance of many goth/fetish-inspired looks, which is surprising how well they translate from the runaway to the street. Granted, some are easier to walk in than others but if you can stay standing they look fabulous and are well worth the small pain they may inflict.
